He was smart and funny and warm and generous and all the things people say about friends after they die. In Del's case, though, all those things happen to also be true.
My friend Sean was nice enough to scan the program from the memorial, and I was pleased to see one of my photos of Del was used in the program.

It feels like a cliche to say that when some people pass away, they aren't really gone. Well, again, in Del's case, that's kind of true. He didn't just create brilliant stories that will live long beyond his own lifetime. (Among his many accomplishments, Del was story editor on the original "Twilight Zone" series.) Del was also an educator, and touched the lives of innumerable other storytellers whose work will be influenced by his insights.
Del worked tirelessly on behalf of writers and knew the power of the written word.
